Truly Madly Sweetly

I just looked at the date of my last post in horror!  Have two years really flown by?  Well it's time to hit the ground running and let you know what we have been up to.

Have you ever visited East Hampton, NY?  Well, Mercediz and I just got back from a wedding there and wanted to share some pictures of the elegant little cake and lovely dessert bar we prepared for one of our favorite couples, Marlene and David.  Marlene and my daughter have been friends for, well, let's just say a long time, and I was honored to be selected as the Pastry Chef for this wedding.  Mercediz and I packed up tons (it felt like tons) of baking equipment and headed east.  The result, the beautiful photos that follow...mini cupcakes, whoopie pies, cheesecake pops, creamy lemon mascarpone ice box pies, handmade French salted caramels and chocolate, chocolate, chocolate.  Enjoy!

We have been having such a great time working with our brides on dessert bars for their weddings.  Cupcakes, full sized and minis, cheesecakes, cookies and pops.  What fun!  A beautiful spread and your guests have so much fun nibbling on all of the small bites.  Mixing and matching flavors, colors and textures is what it is all about.

we had such a lovely weekend, I thought I would share...

our first wedding was in Fallbrook, CA.  a beautiful venue tucked back in the lovely hills.  our bride topped each of the delectable cupcakes with a fresh rose, three colors, pink, orange and yellow.  the tier sat upon a lovely mirrored table and it looked stunning covered in Truly Madly Sweetly cupcakes and roses. breathtaking!

next we delivered a backyard wedding in Temecula, CA.  the gazebo was covered in red roses and greenery.  the tier of cupcakes sat in the center of the gazebo and made quite a statement.  all red velvet cupcakes surrounded by the beautiful flowers.  so pretty...and oh, so delicious!

we are so fortunate to be able to do this!  what a joy!

Our brides are the brightest!  Wedding season is upon us and the choice to serve cupcakes is proving to be one of the best decisions a bride and groom can make.  It is so nice for us to be able to mix and match flavors for our couples, everyone is satisfied!  In the economic times we face these days, it is also nice to be able to save them some money in the process.  A beautiful little cutting cake at the top of the tier adds that perfect touch.  Truly Madly Sweetly does indeed have the brightest brides!  They insist on a beautiful display, exceptional quality and value!

One of the most beautiful wedding receptions I have ever seen was decorated in shades of soft pink.  The lightest shades of pink roses filled the room, pink candies were placed on the tables next to the soft pink and white china, so lovely along side glasses of pink champagne.  But, the star of the show, aside from the glowing bride and handsome groom, was the dessert table. Truly Madly Sweetly Bake Shop provided a gorgeous tier of pretty in pink little wedding cup cakes. Sitting atop the moist, handmade devil's food and fresh vanilla bean cakes was the naturally pink strawberry buttercream, so light and fluffy. The tower of cakes was topped with a lovely little cutting cake frosted with the same luscious buttercream. The event was a feast for the eyes, and the palete.  Happy guests helped themselves to the lovely gourmet cupcakes.  The perfect end to a perfect event.

It's Valentines Day weekend here at the Bake Shop and we have been busy baking sugared chocolate hearts to decorate our beautiful boxes filled with delicious, fresh and moist cupcakes! Come by to say hello and while you're here pick up a box of truly wonderful treats for your sweetie!

Wine Country Wedding

After baking literally thousands of delectable gourmet cupcakes at our bake shop in Murrieta, this pastry chef woke up this morning, 6:00 a.m. as usual, with a sore back that screamed stay in bed!  Of course, I couldn't, I need to make sure our cases are filled with beautiful cupcakes, and cheesecakes and cookies for our customers today, after all, we are deep into the swing of the holiday season and gift boxes are making their way to loved ones all over the valley.  So, I got up and struggled to get to the shop.  After our morning bake, I began to listen to the whirr of our mixers, whipping up our handmade buttercreams as the scent of our peppermint buttercream came my way.  That's it! I will have a Peppermint Patty, (home made devil's food cake topped with that light and fluffy peppermint  buttercream) and all will be well.  Just one quarter of that moist cake with the cool frosting was all it took to make me feel comforted......but.....I guess I will see about getting to the doctor to look after my aching back.
